Freshman Year Reflection

I believe this freshman year was alot of stress and hard. When I got accepted by Parkway West High School I thought I would be able to make friends easily, pass all my classes, and there wouldn't be any ignorant things happening;I was completely wrong. Alain Locke (my old school) there weren't that many conceited people there as it is at this school. There wasn't really people that cared about the way you looked unless its really something that drew attention to yourself. Locke was more humble than Parkway West because when 8th grade hit students didn't really make fun of others like the way they do here, we got mature.

My grades at Locke was fantastic I had A's and B's and only 1 c sometimes so I thought to myself that soon as I go to Parkway they're nothing for me to worry about. I was one of the smartest students in my class every year at Locke. I can always remember how students bum rushed each other just to sit next to me on a quiz or test cause they always wanted to see my answers. Students at my old school assumed I always will have all my answers on a test/or quiz right. Parkway West High School changed all that because I am sadly now a C's, B's, D student. I thought my grade will be higher than those but you need responsibility to get the satisfying grade. I am so ashamed cause I thought I could do better. I look at myself way differently cause I thought I was a genius now I think im average.

Since I been in Parkway there was good changes also about me. I used to be terrified to dance in front of anybody but Parkway changed that. I volunteer to a dancing at Parkway it was a big experience. I knew I was a dancer but I wouldn't had seen myself as a ballet/modern dancer! I performed twice in front of Parkway and I was terrified! The first time i danced in front of this school it was nerve rising. I realize soon as you get up on the stage its like nobodies watching you.

Optimistic about my future? Yes I have been more optimistic about my future. In middle school, I never really cared about college; now I think college will make m have a better life.:))

Give man who put boy in washing machine a break

In the article, reporter Jason Nark is persuading reader that the man who put the little boy in the wash shouldn't have charges. For Instance, Nark believes that the man wasn't illegally trying to hurt the baby and it was either and accident or a prank. However, Nark admits to readers that he had done some crazy things with his children such as hunting for crickets in the basement with a BB gun, riding a 100 feet zipline in mexico and plenty of other adventures. Specifically,  Nark believes that this man just done a really stupid thing but it wasn't on purpose.
He notices in the video it wasn't on purpose when he left the lil baby in the washing machine by the way he reacted when he realize it was in there. In my point of view on Narks opinions on whether the man shouldn't be in trouble by the law I completely disagree.
I think that this man should go to jail cause a baby will always be noticable and never shall be in a predicament like that cause that is unnecessary. How can you be that careless that you wouldn't notice you put a baby in the washer. A baby is the weight of a skateboard, cat, groceries. There is no way that you will not notice that a baby will not be in your arms. Also, since his girlfriend was baby sitting the lil kid i think he was jealous and was getting tired of the baby and wanted all his girlfriend attention on him. Like I think this is like the most stupidist things that someone can do cause that is showing you have no responsibilities. When I seen this on the news it really irritated me cause I still can't grasp how you can actually put a baby in the washer then  act like it was a accident. Nark should just be quiet cause that wasn't no accident. Its like stealing from the grocery store which is an action that you are doing to make an effect for yourself.

Tony Hawk "I Believe"

In the essay, "Tony Hawk" he is explaining to readers how critics in his life used to keep looking down on him because he was toward the dream to become a skateboarder. For example, in highschool teachers used to believe he wasn't going to be anything in life because he was having dreams of becoming a skateboarder. However, people told him that skateboarding wasn't  a career and it wouldn't bring him anywhere. I believe it was wrong for what critics stated towards Tony Hawks dreams as becoming a skateboarder. He never gave up skateboarding even though all these people was telling him it wouldn't bring him anywhere. Tony Hawk was reaching towards his dreams and he did. He is a professional skater that almost everybody knows.   I can really connect to what Tony Hawk is explaining to readers in this essay because I have critics now and all my life looking down on me for dancing. Specifically, I was told i will never be a dancer, learn how to, master it. Also, there were kids my age telling me I can't dance when i was little. I was told that dancing would be a bad thing to do because I could get hurt. I haven't made it to become a professional dancer but I'll prolli get there. Unlike Tony Hawk critics and his surroundings considered skateboarding to be a crime. I completely am with Tony Hawk because people used to and still look down on me about dancing.

New Fashion Wrinkle

In the article "Should We Really Be Chuckling about 'Gun Fashions' " i think these gun fashion clothes aren't going to be around for long. For example, carrying guns are a crime if you are not going to hunt.However, these not only gun carrying but all weapons are not illegal cause it probably is hurting people in the this country. For Instance, these new pants and jacket that has pockets that can easily hide a weapon will cause people to get hurt and alot of death cases if they keep this clothing still in the U.S. Also, they're already alot of death cases that involves guns>>>Trayvon Martin. Specifically,in the article it informs readers that there are 16,000 to 17,000 americans are murdered each year an about in an overrall of 120,000 are shot to death. Clearly, this new fashion will cause alot of criminal not to be noticed by the weapons they're carrying cause the clothing look completely unnoticable. Not only is this new clothing going to cause murders its going to cause roberies. Moreover, I believe the gun fasion will make alot of trouble in the United States if it stay in style or be available too long.

Broadcasting a World of Whiteness

In the article "Broadcasting a World of Whiteness", I think there are not many shows on network television with diverse casts because the U.S. still has a society of  an american person being in control of everything. For example, like the U.S. mostly has white people on television because the man actually made most american whites believe they are better and stronger that another race, culture , color for centuries. However, many shows has whites because most times a hispanic/black/asian always has to be a gang banger, ghetto or work at the chinese store/Karate. Notice all those things I are all stereotypes that has been going on for years. I do agree with the author because they're show that barely has Hispanic/blacks/asians diversed with white people. For Instance, they're seperate television stations such as B.E.T , LifeTime, Univision, and Telemundo. However, all those channels I named doesn't have whites really in it or these diverse races aren't in the white channels.Therefore, they're some shows that i noticed that does appear to be racist. Specifically, I always watch "Dancing With The Stars" still haven't seen a african american or asian win. Clearly, those aew my thoughts on the article "Broadcasting a World of Whiteness".

Afghan Girls Scarred by Acid, Defy Terror, Embracing School

In the article, "Afghan Girls Scarred by Acid, Defy Terror, Embracing School" is informing readers how girls in Afghan that goes to school has been discriminated & hated. For example, its common for women in Afghan to just stay home and cook, take care of kids, and do the house cleanings its sort of like the men are more able to get their education than women. However, most men in afghan wants women to stay clueless an ignorant about alot of stuff while they are getting taught something each day that is new. Today victims that are girls are getting acid thrown in their faces because they are going to school to learn.   These acid attacks usually happens as the girls are walking home and going to school. Shamsia Husseini is a student of Mirwais School for Girls that has been a victim of a acid attack. As she was walking to school a man in his motorcycle that seemed like a completely ordinary person. Her mother was telling reporter that all the adult women in their area are not able to read or write and she was sending her daughter to school for the proper education that will not only make her have better benefits but will not make her stupid.(in other words ignorant) I completely agree with Shamsia mother because every woman deserves to be able to learn things and not just only be stupid little things that be in the house all day and do work. I believe this is completely not right how women in Afghan are treated. They are human being too they are not animals they should have their equal right to go to school. Its not fair how the men and boys are able to get smarter each day but the women gets more ignorant each day.

Zimmerman goes to court over teen's killing

In the article "Zimmerman goes to court over teens killing"reporters Tamara Lush and Greg Bluestein is telling readers that Zimmerman is in court and the judge and jury is deciding what punishment should be.  Zimmerman has a second degree charges held against him for what he has done. Trayvon Martin family is waiting for his punishment to happen. Zimmerman took the life of a teen that had plenty of goals that he wanted to accomplish in life like me. Zimmerman is hoping to be able to meet Trayvons family but they refused. Trayvons family wants him to get his punishment and not be in their face of for him to be seen by them. Zimmerman was crying all night the 1st night he was in holding in the cell. It's crazy how the whole time he was in the court room he kept replying to the judge as "Yes sir" and "No sir. Zimmerman is completely wrong for going out his way and killing Trayvon because the other police told him to leave him alone. Zimmerman didn't take no as an answer and still chase the teen down and shot him, because of what..because he was black! Zimmerman seems to be so scared cause he know he gonna get it and get beat up everyday. Just to think a teen like me that was breathing 2 months ago is gone and never coming back. I believe Zimmerman deserves to get executed not only because he killed an innocent teen, its because he stereotyped a young black teenage boy as up to no good because he was wearing a hoodie. What the heck black people can't wear hoodies now. As long as we are in this country we can wear whatever we want! I truly hope Zimmerman will learn his lesson and this ain't gonna be another trail of Emmit Till.

The Death of Trayvon Martin

A 17 year old african american teen named Trayvon Martin was assassinated. He live in florida in an mostly high class white neighborhood. He went the store and got a bag of skittles and a arizona ice tea for the NBA game coming on. As he was walking back home he felt someone following him. He was talking on the phone with his lady friend and she told him to run. He said no he not gonna run so Trayvon started speed walking. All of a sudden this guy came up start attacking him. He got up and tried to run but the man hurried and shot him in the back. All the neighbors heard his frightening scared cries as he was being attacked. The man that killed him was racist. His name was George Zimmerman and he is 39 years old. George told the police he knew Trayvon was up to no good. All Trayvon was doing was minding his business til this maniac came up and attacked him. Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch person, just because Trayvon had his hoodie up and was black he felt as though he was doing wrong. Trayvon was a good teen just was trying to go to prom, graduate highschool, go to college just like me. Trayvon was a normal teen just like students here at parkway. I believe its sooo messed up what happened to him cause no one should go through that. This was cruel and evil what Zimmerman has done. I always remember what happened to Emmit Till but I wouldn't have known it would happen today. Every black boy wearing a hoodie is not a criminal.I just sad what happened and I truly disagree cause i am a black teen too and that made me feel some type of way same as others.

For Women Under 30,Most Births Occur Outside Marriage

In the article, it tell readers the overall percentage of american women under 30 that gives births outside marriage. For example, there are more and more people that are having babies without being married. However, the reason why more people aren't getting married before having children is because they are caught up in the moment, really love that person, one night stands etc. I do not agree with these reasons cause you still have a mind and can say "No" if you don't wanna lead to having children when your not ready. I think the best way to avoid having a child before marriage is to not have sex till marriage. It's better that way because the man wouldn't really be able to run away from his responsibility. However, the article also states that marriage before pregnancy will give your child way better oppurtunities in life. For example, while your married there will be better insurance, more cash, etc. needed for your child. On the other hand, in many cases while mother of the child was married outside birth the man may either leave and live on with his life. Now they're a population of getting prego before marriage, which mean these are mostly adults that are getting pregnant before marriage.

Boys ages 1 and 3,found alone in a rat infested apartment

I believe this is one of the most nastiest thing a parent can do to their children. A 31 year old woman named Dawn Canterbury left her two little baby boys alone in an rat infested house that was an completely varmit infested an unfit. The police happened to stop her and arrest her a couple blocks away. She was carry drugs by the way!! The police quickly took her two children in custody even though they was unharmed. The children may get in foster care cause of Dawn's unfit actions as a mother. Dawn is an perfect example of an unfit mother because who leaves their babies in the house alone. Would if one of them rats just bit them and caused a huge nasty rash on these little boys;She wouldn't care she was taking a shroll in her car. Her children is only 1 and 3 years old they was probably all afraid,scared and alone. Dawn had been caught with drugs this time she may probably never see her children again. I think this is the sickest thing that has happen after the lady with the cats last year. As a mother, a mother should protect their babies and children; Not leave them alone in the house doing nonsense!!(Drugs)Dawn was on welfare suppose to be making a effort to help her children and making sure she provide them with the right stuff. This is an shaking my head situation that I will never forget. Dawn should be in jail for life for this cause this is just shot out sick! The worst thing is that there wasn't only rats in the house there was roaches, water bugs, them thin nasty spiders in the house too. What if a roach decided to crawl in one of the little babies ears. Who would be there to immediatly call 911. Not Dawn she would be outside having a jolly full of fun!

Facebook is Using You

In the article "Facebook is Using You", is explaining to readers that Facebook can cause you to be rejected in the future. For example, every pic, status, info about you or anything else someone is watching. However, everything you put up on the internet matters cause it can make you loose a job, college approval, career etc. The article explains that Facebook can be dangerous for your future determined by how appropriate your personality is on Facebook. The type of things you can put up on the internet on Facebook that can make your future harder is an image of you smoking illegal drugs, drinking alcohol, sexual inappropriate photos or videos, etc. On the other hand, I made my Facebook when I was 13 so there aren't anything for me to worry about cause I never put up those things. I still consider my Facebook profile to be private because I don't even like to add family members cause they try to comment on everything. I feel some type of way and creep'd out that there are people watching me that are the head of colleges, interviews, jobs and careers that are determining if I'm the right person to get into their programs. Therefore, I feel sorry for those who've done stuff on the web that was shot and unreasonable. There are most people who didn't mean for those stuff to go out there on the internet.Too all be careful of what you put on Facebook!

Whitney's Funneral

Whitney Houston dies at age 48 on Feb.11,2012. Her Funeral was on Feb.18,2011on a Saturday.Her funeral was held in Jersey,most of her friends show up that are in her category of entertainment. Whitney's  Friends that  has showed up that are music artists like hereself was Stevie Wonder, R Kelly, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Cee Cee Winans, Marlon Winans and Donnie Mclurkin.There also was other appearances by her friends who aren't an musical artist,such as Tyler Perry. Whitney's Funeral had a bunch of flowers from friends,family and friends.Every person who went up to the front of the church told their personal experience/memories of being with whitney that fan didn't even know about.When the funeral was over like 6 men gently carried her casket while her beautiful voice was in the background singing "Will Always Love You".Her daugther was crying uncontrollably cause whitney was the only real parent she only had.Unlike, Bobby Brown he hurried up and left the funeral with his clique without paying his respects to his once love "Whitney" and see his little baby girl there. In the article "In China Human Cost Is Built Into an iPad" it tells reader how the apple company isn't as good a it seems.For example, the apple company has all these people as employees but doesn't give them the benefit to be more safe while they are working, reporter tells, "Two years ago, 137 workers at an apple supplier were injured after they were ordered to use a poisonous chemical to clean the iPhone screens." However, the apple company doesn't keep their workers safe and secure.For example, the company barely let their workers get rest and also doesn't get enough cash by their work,"Mr. Lai’s college degree enabled him to earn a salary of around $22 a day, including overtime." Therefore, the apple company isn't good at all but we still buy their products anyway.

I'm a criminal

In the article "I'm A Criminal And So Are You", Michelle Alexander is explaining to readers that you can be a criminal even if you break one a law but don't get caught. Heres an example, if you are committing a crime against the law but never really notice you are still are a criminal. The crime you can commit is stealing from corner stores, littering, graffiti,speeding or drunk driving, or smoking pot. There are people in this country who does these things but still continue to look down on others who have been caught. If you ask someone in the street "Are You A Criminal" and they do these things the first answer is going to be "No" because they don't realize this type of stuff is against the law. People who does this stuff will never realize it until they get caught or behind bars. As a result, nobody in this country is perfect an at least has done one of these crimes before in their lifetime.

PhotoShopped or Not

The pictures you see on magazines,articles,books or etc. can be sometimes phony. There are some ways people who are models,singers, actresses,actors or etc. can allow their picture to be edited. In some cases they can arrange their photographers to zap out zits,weight,bad hair day...But this can also become a problem to the public because people can become so insecure. There are people in this world who are willing to become anorexic suffering form their self conscious telling them they aren't as skinny as a model in a mag or ad. People who would do this doesn't realize that these people in the magazine or ad can be actually 500-1000 lbs but are photo edited by the new technology we have today to be able to do that.

Cracking Teenagers Online Codes

To be Honest, no i don't agree with Dr. Danah Boyd. The reason why i disagree with her is because no matter where a teen, child, tween whatever go there will be a predator lurking. Parents should be protective over their teen while they're using the internet because they wouldn't know who their teen is talking to over the web. There are outrageous teenagers these days sending nasty pics or sexting people they don't know. In some cases the person or people the teen is sending pics to will be more likely to expose them on an website. Every adult on the internet isn't positive and cool cause they be trying to talk to lil girls like me. There be grown men tryna send me messages on facebook and I immediately block them. Unlike some teens actually try to communicate back with the grown man or woman. I also don't know what Dr. Boyd is talking about cause they're are predators around my neighborhood and everywhere. The reason why there wasn't many killings this past year is because more parents are beginning to be more protective of their teens.Even other teens can be dangerous as a teen is talking  them on the internet.( Teenagers girls or boys can be predators too). However, Dr. Dahah Boyd don't know what she is talking about....

Man gets brutally beaten to death by 3 men

A man named Kevin Kless, 23 years old was brutally beaten by 3 thugs in front of the Historic Second Bank of U.S. This happened on Saturday around 2:25 a.m. Kless while he was walking with his girlfriend and some other girl. He was trying to call a cab but noticed that the cab had its head lights without any passengers in there. Kless was yelling at the cab but it was another car behind the cab the passengers thought Kless was yelling at them. The car hurried up an stopped in immediately, there was 4 passengers in the car but only three people stepped out an beaten Kless. His girlfriend and the other girl was too shocked an scared to even do anything. Kless was a temple grad that just moved back to philly not too long ago. Soon as he was rushed to the hospital he was on life support. About 17 hrs after the attack he had died. The video only took footage of the vehicle these thugs was driving. The cops aren't sure if this was the car these thugs was driving. It also seems as at least someone could've had walked by and called 911 to save this mans life.I hope these thugs get caught and get death because that was nutty as ever.

Beyonce gives birth to a baby girl:)

At saturday night in New York Beyonce gave birth to a little girl. Beyonce and Jay z welcomed their daughter with a warm welcome. Jay Z named their daughter "Blue Ivory Carter",he even wrote a song for the baby . The public basically found out the news from twitter. Fans are now on the edge of they're seats to see Beyonce and Jay Z reveal their princess to the world. Just imagine Beyonce from Crazy In Love video collaboration with Jay Z till this day to know that they are now married and parents! Fans who watched the 2011 MTV VMA Awards seeing Beyonce on stage performing her album hit song "Love On Top" with this baby inside her. Then she rubs her stomach at the end of her performance showing the world that she is pregnant. Beyonce's starting as the leader of the Destiny Childs group,then going solo for 8 years already and now is mother.This is a very beautiful time for Beyonce and Jay Z.

The Biggest story of 2011 was the anniversary of 911

The 10 year anniversary of 911 was the biggest story of 2011 because thousands of people died 10 years ago.The reason why this is the biggest story in 2011 cause thousands of cops, firefighters, doctors died due to these terrorist cause they was trying to protect the citizens of the U.S. There were people losing their lives trying to save other victims lives also. This is gonna be the most memorable event that has happened in history cause of its terrible after affects of it.It was smoke and gases left after this crash in the twin towers outside the New York streets for about 3 months.Just imagine if your love one was a victim in this terrible terrorist attack; an you will go outside and just see the ashes of every victim including your love one floating in the air. People lost the're dad,mother,daughters,sons, aunts,uncles, cousins ect.due to this attack. The cops, firefighters,doctors etc.are heroes for our country the united states.They lost they're lives by helping one another out so they can try to keep the citizens of the U.S safe and unharmed. This terrorist attack in 2001 changed the
history of the U.S forever.
